Funding for Markets or Festivals

Applications should be submitted at least six weeks prior to the festival/market.

The evaluation process takes three weeks.

Funding is offered to:

A filmmaker that has a film screening at the festival
A filmmaker who will be pitching his/her project at the festival
Filmmakers that will be attending valuable training workshops at the festival
Filmmakers that will be representing their films at the awards ceremony
Applicants cannot be funded more than twice in one year.

Before you start, please note the following are compulsory:

A profile of the film at the festival

For Markets

Speech selection
A project(s) developed sufficiently to attract market place finance
The track record of the applicant
The applicant’s plans for financing the project(s) and evidence of the existing level of the market place interest in the project
An itinerary with confirmed meetings will be required prior to travel

Skeleton Coast

The Skeleton Coast, a hauntingly beautiful stretch of coastline, extends from Angola all the way to the Swakop River, where it meets the coastal town of Swakopmund. This region has captivated the imagination of both the San Bushmen and Portuguese sailors, who referred to it as "The Land God Made in Anger" and "The Gates of Hell," respectively. The Skeleton Coast National Park, encompassing over 16,000 square kilometers, is named after the whale and seal bones that once scattered its shores from the whaling industry. Today, it is known for the skeletal remains of shipwrecks that have fallen victim to offshore rocks and fog, with notable wrecks like the "Eduard Bohlen," "Otavi," "Shawnee," "Zela," and "Dunedin Star."

Kolmanskop

In 1908 when a railroad worker picked up a diamond, the German settler realized the area was rich in diamonds. The German government declared a large area as a restrictive location in order to exploit the diamond field. Due to the enormous wealth the diamond miners received, the residents built a village in the architectural style of a German town, complete with a hospital, school, ballroom, skittle-alley and even a casino. The town started to decline after World War I when the diamonds started to deplete, and by the 1930’s it was in full decline. Today this once rich town is taken over by the ruthless Namib Desert.
